Full Job Description

This is a part time position of 17.5hours per week. Shifts are rostered to cover the phlebotomy service which operates 7 days per week. Phlebotomist's are given at least 6 weeks' notice of their rostered shifts., Part time: 17.5 hours per week, worked on a variable roster pattern.
Diagnostics and Clinical Support Services in partnership with
Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services
+ To perform venepuncture under supervision of the senior phlebotomy team and managers as designated; after achieving competence post holder will be expected to work alone when and where required.
+ To follow the general policies and protocols of the department and, in association with the clinical, scientific and technical staff, assist in maintaining the highest professional standards.

For this role it is necessary for you to be a caring and courteous individual that can work under pressure in a challenging environment. You must be able to work responsibly, following protocols and procedures, and have the ability to work on your own initiative. There is a lot of walking, standing and bending involved, therefore a degree of fitness is essential. Experience is not essential, as full training is provided; however, we would like you to have had recent healthcare or customer service experience. This position is a band 2, with potential to progress into a band 3 post once training and experience has been gained.
Applicants should have use of a reliable car as some work is based at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust community sites.
