Full Job Description

As a physiotherapy assistant you will work with the physiotherapy inpatient team to deliver high quality rehabilitation for patients with complex neurological disability, often resulting from an acquired brain injury. This involves working in an inpatient rehabilitation unit as part of a wide multidisciplinary team. You will deliver hands-on physiotherapy treatments under the supervision of a qualified therapist and will help patients to optimise their ability to move and be independent in their daily lives. You will also support the team with administrative and organisational tasks.,

  • Working within a multidisciplinary team to support patients with neurological impairments, which affects their movement, thinking and communication skills, to regain independence in their daily lives.
  • Supporting patients to practice exercises and functional tasks that will help their ability to move their arms and legs, including exercise in the hydrotherapy pool.
  • Supporting therapists in therapeutic manual handling tasks to ensure staff and patient safety.
  • Monitoring patient performance and response to treatments and seeking help or advice from qualified therapists as required.
  • Monitoring stock levels and maintaining therapy equipment as well as supporting the physiotherapy team in administrative tasks such as timetabling.
  • Participating in team meetings, learning opportunities and service evaluation and development projects.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and work within trust safety policies.

    The post holder will work at the Oxford Centre for Enablement (OCE) on a level 1A neurorehabilitation unit which strives to deliver clinical excellence in this field. The physiotherapy team at OCE work within the broader multidisciplinary team to provide a high standard of care for our patients who have complex rehabilitation needs. This post is a static position within the inpatient rehabilitation team.
