The salary scale above has been agreed as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2024/2025 and will be implemented in November 2024 backdated to 1st April 2024 where applicable., An exciting opportunity has arisen to undertake a Senior Clinical Fellowship at the Welsh Centre of Burns and Plastic Surgery, based at Swansea Bay University Health Board with subspecialty interest tailored towards planned interest as a consultant. We are delighted to be able to support fellowships in the following subspecialties: Paediatric Surgery (including hypospadias, vascular anomalies and children's hand surgery), Peripheral Nerve and Brachial Plexus Surgery, Laser, Breast Reconstruction, Sarcoma, Skin Oncology, Perineal/Pelvic Reconstruction or Burns., Support the Sarcoma Service and the Melanoma Service
· Provide advice to clinicians in hospital and primary care, originating either from telephone calls, MDT discussions or ward referrals.
· Travelling between Hospital/Clinic sites will be required to undertake duties. By the end of the post we would want fellows to have a highly developed understanding of:
MDT management of skin cancer (to include attendance in OPC of other disciplines such as dermatology and oncology)
- MDT management of Sarcoma (including peripheral nerve tumours and fibromatosis) and to include attendance in OPC of other disciplines
- OPC assessment of patients with skin cancer and sarcoma
- Development of a management plan appropriate to tumour type
- Skin Cancer Surgically: Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy, Completion Lymphadenectomy (groin and axilla), Advanced Reconstructive Techniques (including free tissue transfer)
- Sarcoma Surgically: excision of malignant tumours. Advanced Reconstructive Techniques (including free tissue transfer) and Completion Lymphadenectomy (groin and axilla)
- Actively participate in the training and supervision of junior doctors and medical students through formal and informal teaching and training opportunities
- To participate in the management, development and modernisation of the service and to support colleagues in meeting training obligations, Although this post is not recognised for training, participation in educational programmes, audit and research will be encouraged and supported. There is an active Multi Professional Education Centre and Medical Staff are encouraged to use its facilities. There are also comprehensive Medical Libraries at all sites managed by Chartered Librarians.

We are looking to recruit a keen and enthusiastic new colleague to join a friendly, forward thinking team. This is a post FRCS (plast) peri CCT position for those at the end of training or immediately post CCT who are looking to further perfect their clinical skills ready for consultant life. The post holder will be employed for a 6 month period with a start date of either February or August. Depending upon number of applications we may look to prospectively fill the post for a 12 - 18 month period.
