Full Job Description

The Cheshire & Merseyside Physiological Sciences Network is seeking to appoint a Practice Education Coordinator (PEC) for Cardiac Physiology. The practice education coordinator will work closely with the Cardiac-Physiology network and training leads across Trust Cardiac-Physiology departments and will coordinate practice education in cardiac physiology across C&M.

The Practice Education Coordinator will provide training coordination and training package development expertise, use project management skills and be responsible for the development and implementation of a C&M echocardiography supervisor/educator collaborative. The role will also coordinate the development of cardiac physiology training packages for Echocardiography Training Programme students.

The role will support the development of a workforce plan for physiological sciences and provide expert workforce and training advice and guidance in the development of the plan.

The post holder will work collaboratively with Trust echocardiography training leads, Cardiac-Physiology network lead, NHS England workforce and training leads and develop strong links with education establishments and other Health Care Scientists.

Main duties of the job

To focus on Echocardiography training as a priority area

To develop a supervisor/educator collaborative or network across C&M. The purpose of this network will be to support the education supervisors in each Trust.

The post holder will coordinate the development of the following areas via the educator collaborative:

- development of a training package which will broaden the Echocardiography Training Programme students general cardiac physiology knowledge base;

- review and update preceptorship guidance documentation;

- development of training/career pathways for cardiac physiologists;

- develop strong links with Universities and Academies for continued provision of apprentice pathways at all levels

To contribute to the development of a Physiological Science workforce strategy.

To lead workforce planning and training needs analysis for the Cardiac Physiology network.

To promote best practice in training and education across Physiological Sciences
