Full Job Description

We are very pleased to offer this Principal Psychologist post in Herefordshires Complex Emotional Needs Service (CENS). CENS is a multidisciplinary team primarily providing DBT and peer support to people struggling with emotion regulation, relational difficulties, and impulsive risk behaviours. We also provide training and consultation to other NHS mental health services. This post will appeal to someone who wants to make a real difference to the experience of people with complex emotional needs in Herefordshire. The post holder will provide clinical leadership, support staff development, and seek opportunities to support their own professional development. Importantly, the post holder will become part of a thriving and supportive community of psychological professionals. We are proud to have a strong culture of supporting staff development and wellbeing both within psychological services and beyond. The post is up to 37.5 hours (1.0 WTE)., The post holder will provide clinical leadership and supervision to the CENS team, undertake specialist assessments, hold a DBT caseload, provide trauma focused therapy where appropriate, and offer consultation and training to the wider system. The post holder will integrate other models of working such as CFT, CAT, SCM, CBT and EMDR where this will compliment clinical provision. A key aspect of this role will be to co-produce a sustainable training program for local NHS staff and community stakeholders aimed at improving understanding and empathy for people with complex emotional needs and helping staff feel more confident in knowing how to respond to and support clients. A secondary focus will be to work with local stakeholders to pilot ways of supporting clients who struggle to engage with CENS or other community services but who frequently experience contact with crisis services. This will involve working with systems including NHS and VCSE organisations.
