Full Job Description
This exciting opportunity will involve leading the curriculum department of Health and Life Sciences which includes management of Care, Childcare and training and Leisure. The role will be to deliver an ambitious curriculum to all by working alongside the Curriculum Manager and Director to contribute towards the achievement of the College's mission, vision and strategic objectives and targets.
You will work flexibly and efficiently to maintain the highest professional standards in the delivery of allocated teaching programmes, including the associated leadership, organisational, coordination and administrative responsibility.
The college mission is to 'Enrich lives through transformative education.' and to meet this vision we are looking for an ambitious individual to support further growth of our highly successful curriculum offer, whilst monitoring data and working towards the departmental objectives and KPI's. We are looking for someone with curriculum expertise in one or more of the related areas, who is also pro-active at finding opportunities to build partnerships with key stakeholders. Quality is paramount to what we do at East Durham College, and this includes having students at the heart of what we do.
Hold a level 5 or degree in relevant subject area.
Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy or equivalent or willing to work towards within 12 months.
A minimum of a level 5 teaching qualification (Cert Ed/PGCE).
Significant vocational experience in one of the areas of health, Childcare, Social Care or Sport.
Experience of successfully teaching a vocational / curriculum. subject across a range of levels.
Experience of successfully leading individuals.
Working knowledge of FE Sector, funding streams and curriculum design.
Knowledge of safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.
Knowledge of equality, diversity and inclusion.
Knowledge of awarding organisation procedures and practices.
Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines.
Ability to monitor and analyse data.
Good report writing skills.
Ability to work as part of a team.
