Property Maintenance Operative

We are looking for a Property Maintenance Operative to join the existing team to support the management of our portfolio of properties located across North Lincolnshire.
The role will require you to be highly organised, with an eye for detail and the ability to work with vulnerable young people from various backgrounds to support them to develop household management skills and resolving any repairs issues as these arise. You will also advise and support the young people on their responsibilities of maintaining a property and educate them about general household maintenance skills as part of wider life skills support.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified tradesperson, with experience in general trades including painting and decorating, general building maintenance repairs and improvements. General works will include changing locks, unblocking sinks and pipes, repairs to WC systems, leaking taps, bleeding radiators, decorating, fitting, and repairing window catches and locks, hanging doors, replacing, and maintaining furniture, furniture removals, cleaning and rubbish clearances etc. Knowledge / experience of domestic plumbing and / or electrical installations, ideally with a qualification, would be an advantage.
Our accommodation offer is a key aspect of our service offer to young people leaving care. Within this role, you will have a key role in upholding the values of North Lincolnshire Council through high quality relational practice directly with young people, therefore ensuring that young people can live in our local community and remain connected with their families, empowering them to acquire the skills to seek solutions to their difficulties, and by building on their strengths and developing strong resilient young people, who are an asset to our communities. This can be a very rewarding job, seeing the young people develop their skills through your help and guidance.
An additional temporary post has been created to strengthen the current offer to young people seeking asylum, and refugee young people in the care of North Lincolnshire. It will support our current accommodation maintenance offer to young people. This is due to the increase in young people seeking asylum being cared for and supported by North Lincolnshire Council, due to national increases in young people arriving in the UK.
The post will be embedded within the Care Leaving / Property Maintenance Service, which is responsible for delivering high quality, and well-maintained accommodation to young people taking the next steps on their journey to adulthood.
We have two 37 hour posts available, one permanent and one temporary up to 31st March 2026.
