Full Job Description
We are looking for a talented Prototype Manufacturing Technician to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Special Products department in Huddersfield, United Kingdom. This role has a shift day schedule from Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and Friday, 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with the potential for monthly rotation to night shifts, working Monday to Thursday from 10:00 PM to 7:15 AM. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways :
- Enhancing Safety and Compliance: By strictly adhering to HSE standards, policies, and procedures, and promptly reporting hazards and incidents, you will help create a safer work environment, thereby reducing workplace injuries and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Quality Assurance and Improvement: Your commitment to high standards of workmanship, quality inspections, and feedback into the Preventive Maintenance system will help maintain and improve product quality, reducing costs associated with quality issues and rework.
- Efficient Production and Maintenance: Utilizing your expertise in operating complex machine tools and performing maintenance activities, you will contribute to minimizing downtime and maximizing equipment uptime, thus ensuring smooth and efficient production processes.
- Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing: By instructing and coaching less experienced team members, you will help develop their skills and knowledge, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork within the organization.
- Environmental Stewardship: Recognizing and mitigating the environmental impact of your work, you will contribute to the company's sustainability goals, promoting environmentally friendly practices and reducing negative impacts on the environment.
- Problem Solving and Process Improvement: Actively participating in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) teams and engaging in problem-solving initiatives will enable you to identify and implement process improvements, enhancing overall efficiency and productivity.
- Housekeeping and Organization: Maintaining a clean and orderly work area not only ensures a safer workplace but also improves operational efficiency by reducing the likelihood of errors and accidents.
- Communication and Collaboration: Effectively communicating with your team and support teams will enhance collaboration, ensuring that issues are promptly addressed, and contributing to a cohesive and productive work environment., To be successful in this role you will need the following
Technical Expertise and Experience: You need to be apprentice trained with significant machining experience, especially in five-axis CNC milling (preferably with Fanuc and Heidenhain controls). A background in CAD/CAM systems and proven experience in small batch and prototype/bespoke manufacturing are also essential. - Problem-Solving and Continuous Improvement: A proactive approach to problem-solving using various manufacturing methods and equipment is crucial. You should also be able to lead improvement activities within your work area to enhance operational performance and engage the team in delivering superior results.
- Interpreting and Understanding Engineering Drawings: The ability to interpret and understand complex engineering piece-part and assembly drawings and models is necessary for manufacturing small batches of prototype components directly from engineering drawings and models.
- Communication and Quality Assurance: Effective communication with other department members to ensure workflow and customer requirements are met is vital. Additionally, you must ensure personal quality is maintained to engineering standards and drive quality ownership throughout the team, creating and developing documented procedures and processes while following best practices., High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
- Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
