Full Job Description

The post holder will have responsibility for the daily operational management and patient pathways in the MRI department of the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Radiology Department, including spoke sites., To provide a high standard of cross-sectional imaging and ensure delivery of safe, compassionate and timely patient care. To communicate effectively with clinical, managerial, administrative and ancillary staff in order to ensure a professional and timely service. To act as a role model for the profession and participating in the supervision, training and support of more junior staff To prioritise and organise the workload in response to clinical need and service demands. The post holder must be willing to work across sites To deputise for Band 8 radiographers as required. The post holder is expected to have a broad knowledge of pathology and physiology relevant to cross sectional imaging. Practices in accordance with the professional, ethical and legal codes of the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), the Society of Radiographers Professional Code of Conduct and Trust and NHS protocols and guidelines. Is accountable for own practice and maintenance of HCPC registration status., Prioritises and plans the daily activities of the unit ensuring patients are imaged in a safe, timely and efficient manner; works in cooperation/conjunction with other staff groups Supports the Department Lead Radiographers with planning and management of staff deployment / rostering in own area of responsibility. Makes autonomous decisions regarding the appropriateness of examinations as an aid to clinical diagnosis; works to a high standard of technique and patient positioning Possesses specialist knowledge and experience as appropriate to grade and area of responsibility; is able to function as a role model and provide support to more junior staff Is responsible for the assessment, planning and prioritisation of tasks within area of responsibility, ensuring performance target are met Communicates effectively with other staff groups, both internal and external. These include clinicians and other healthcare professionals, senior Trust management, patients and their representatives, external agencies, commercial suppliers, service engineers and visitors to the department

  • Evidence of managerial experience at Band 6 (or above), MSc in Radiography or equivalent experience, preferably multi-centred, Evidence of recent and extensive post-registration experience at Band 6
  • Experience of staff supervision and/or training
  • BSc Degree in Radiography or equivalent radiographic qualification, DCR(R)
  • Registration with the Health professions Council, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
