Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit a new Senior Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly team in providing a highly person-centred, medicines optimisation service across our Trust. This will involve dispensing, accuracy checking, ward visits, supporting our clinical trial work, and clozapine dispensing and monitoring., Our vision statement is to help people recover and to keep people safe through optimal use of medicines. The successful candidate will be an organised, flexible individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and keen to learn more about mental health medicines optimisation. The role will require this person to:

  • Dispense and issue prescriptions
  • Undertake the final accuracy checking of dispensed medicines.
  • Complete medicines reconciliation for allocated wards, taking care to involve those individuals.
  • Provide medicines related information and responding to enquiries within scope of role and competence from inpatients and community teams.
  • Be involved with the day to day running of the clozapine supply service.
  • Be involved in clinical trials dispensing and preparation of medicines.

    The successful candidate will be flexible, open to learning, enthusiastic and driven to support our team in making sure that people using our services get the right medicines, at the right time and at the right place.
  • This is a key post in our team and so the individual must also have: - BTEC and NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) - ACPT accreditation - Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council as a Registered Pharmacy Technician Hospital pharmacy experience is essential and previous mental health experience would be an advantage, but if you have a keen interest in this area, the SABP pharmacy team will help and support you to develop your knowledge and skills.,
  • Is competent, confident, and passionate about delivering high-quality pharmacy service to our inpatient wards and community unit.
  • Can work well within a team and can adopt a leadership position within that team when needed.
  • Demonstrates initiative and has good organisational skills, so can work with the team to resolve various service provision issues.
