Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Service Charge Lead to lead our Charge Setting team within the Finance Team, undertaking the annual service charge process for a wide range of properties across the Group. Reporting to the Rent and Service Charge Manager, this role will provide a varied workload, with the opportunity to get involved in improving the service charge process from budget setting through to the production of annual account statements. We are looking for someone with experience of leading annual service charge processes, including budget setting and the production of audited service charge accounts for various tenures, whilst striving for best practise and also providing excellent customer service. What will my working week look like? You will be homebased, living within the North West, within a reasonable travelling distance of our Head Office in Warrington, to attend meetings and training courses when needed. Realistically, you will be required to visit our Head Office approximately 2 - 4 times a month. What will I be responsible for doing? First and foremost, you will be responsible for leading the charge team in all annual service charge processes including the annual budget setting process for all tenures, and the production of annual statements and liaison with auditors where required. You will keep up to date with relevant legislation and ensure the team's compliance with this. You will guide the team to ensure they strive for best practise and be keen to improve processes to improve accuracy and efficiency. One of the great things about this role is you'll get to work with colleagues across finance and the wider business in setting and reporting the service charges across a variety of different property types, alongside helping colleagues and customers with any queries relating to service charges. You will have a real opportunity to shape the charge setting process and ensure consistency in reporting across YHG!

  • Experience of delivering an effective service charge process from setting service charges for tenants and leaseholders to annual service charge accounts production
  • Excellent stakeholder management, consulting with internal customers and residents as required to assist in delivering processes in line with legal requirements
  • Sound knowledge of the key issues, legislation and best practise in relation to service charge setting
  • Ideally you will be…
  • A team player
  • Someone with an eye for detail
  • Highly competent in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • This role is really suited to someone who likes to continuously review and improve processes learning from feedback and best practise requirements. You'll have an attentiveness to detail and a high degree of numerical accuracy, alongside the ability to work to deadlines.
