Full Job Description
This compelling role will manage, review and assess an agreed caseload of learners ensuring that they meet the occupational standards needed to achieve full framework / standard accreditation in a timely manner. A Skills Trainer Assessor in Electrical Installations will work flexibly to meet the assessment, skills and behavioural development needs of the apprentice / work-based learner both in College and at employer sites at varying times throughout the learning programme as required. This role will work with the Apprenticeship Department, contribute to the onboarding process to ensure apprentices and employers are fully conversant with the apprenticeship programme. Carrying out 12 weekly reviews with apprentice and employer and record all activity on Onefile and ensure apprentices are suitably prepared for End Point Assessment. Your main duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following areas:
- Work alongside the Apprenticeship Recruitment Officer to complete sign-up, initial assessment and induction process.
- Agree range check and work with employers to ensure that the criteria for the apprenticeship can be met.
- Complete skills scan and recognition of prior learning paperwork to support an individual learning plan for each apprentice.
- Contribute to planned assessment and induction days.
- Work with the Apprenticeship administrator to ensure the apprenticeship standard is set up correctly on Onefile
- To accurately undertake necessary documentation and processes as associated with apprenticeship programmes to ensure that the provision remains compliant with funding agency rules and awarding body regulations.
- To assess apprentices/work-based learners in a timely manner using a wide range of methods that challenge and motivate learners to achieve, providing timely and constructive verbal and written feedback acknowledging strengths and giving a clear understanding on how to improve.
- To maintain accurate records (paper or electronic) of; assessment; employer and learner activity; and learner achievement, compliant with funding rules, awarding organisation and College guidelines.
- To visit apprentices at agreed regular intervals to ensure timely progression towards learning aims and agree and review appropriate actions related to development of knowledge, skills and behaviours.
- Support learners and employers to log on to Onefile and ensure that all learning activity is recorded correctly and in a timely way.
- Undertake 12 weekly reviews with apprentices and employers and ensure these are recorded and signed on Onefile.
- Liaise with curriculum and support staff to gather information to compile and carry out comprehensive apprentice reviews which lead to meaningful action plans.
- Ensure that apprentices are clear on the criteria and the evidence they have to gain to meet this.
- Provide support to employers and supervisors to provide the apprentice with opportunities to gain the required evidence and to validate it.

- Work with lecturers to ensure there is a clear link between on and off the job training.
- Prepare apprentices for End Point Assessment.
- Ensure apprentices record all off the job training on Onefile to support compliance with funding requirements.
- Liaise with lecturers and others in facilitating students access to and use of appropriate learning materials, equipment, resources etc.
- Maintain tracking systems to provide regular and purposeful reports to all interested parties as directed so that there is a clear plan of action which is time bound for each learner.
- Assess students by formal or informal methods as required by external examining bodies and following internal College procedures.
- Contribute to the assessment of internal quality assurance for students by ensuring that working practices meet the verification process and to meet with the awarding bodies as and when required.
