Full Job Description

This is the opportunity to rotate between a team about to become the Welsh Specialist Thoracic centre with a huge opportunity to develop skills in both Thoracic and Cardiac physiotherapy, a 28 bedded general ICU and surgical wards. Both teams are very supportive and are looking forward to the chance to share their knowledge and skills with a new member of the team. There will be the ability to develop research skills, working alongside Professor Ceri Battle, the first respiratory consultant physiotherapist in Wales and to work closely with all members of a very supportive MDT. This post also includes Thoracic Pre-Hab a service that was instigated, researched and then funded by WHISCC. It is an exciting time to join this highly motivated and developing team. If you are interested or want to know more, please get in touch., To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to the specialist caseload that the patients on the wards, in critical care units and in the community require.

To manage a defined caseload of clients with complex needs within this setting, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in hospital and the community, maintaining associated records.

To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to the specialist caseload.

To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.

To provide leadership for more junior staff, as agreed with senior staff.

To supervise Physiotherapy students on clinical placements.

To be an active participant in 7 day working rota as required

To deputise for the Clinical Lead Physiotherapists in their absence as required.

To participate in CPD and develop skills and knowledge through participation in the in-service training scheme.

To undertake lone working as required.

Swansea Bay is experiencing exciting developments in all areas with a large expansion in Therapy staff. The Cardiothoracic and Critical care teams manage acute critical care, HDU, cardiothoracic and cardiology wards, General ICU, max fax, vascular ,colorectal ,urology and elective general surgery as well as the Thoracic Pre-Hab, and Follow-up clinics. The teams and are very involved in audit and Research. There is a close MDT and we all endeavour to work together to ensure the best outcomes for patients. We have regular training and well-being sessions mixing education and pleasure as we realise this ensures a quality environment to work in and promotes good standards of care.
