Full Job Description

The post holder will rotate through all sections of the Haematology laboratory. This includes Routine Haematology, Coagulation, Morphology and Blood Transfusion. It involves performing a variety of complex analytical procedures.
You will demonstrate skills and knowledge required including the safe handling of hazardous chemical and biological materials.
You must be able to concentrate for extended time periods to successfully complete complex investigations.
Contribute to the future development of the Haematology service.
Our department is equipped with an automated track system consisting of Sysmex analysers in both Haematology and Coagulation. The department offers in-house haemoglobinopathy and specialist haemostasis testing.
The department is accredited to UKAS ISO 15189 and is registered with the Institute of Biomedical Sciences as a training laboratory for pre and post registration training.

Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Band 6) HCPC Registered with experience of Haematology and Blood Transfusion
Following an internal promotion an opportunity has arisen to join our friendly team as a Biomedical Scientist in the Haematology/Transfusion Department at Kettering General Hospital. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic HCPC registered specialist BMS with experience of working in Haematology and Transfusion preferably within the NHS.
The post holder will be required to actively participate in the 24/7, 365 rota, following completion of in-house training and competency assessment.
Applicants will need to possess good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
