Are you at the beginning of your clinical pharmacy career or looking for a change from community to hospital pharmacy? This post may be for you!In the OUH Cancer Pharmacy team, we are passionate about investing in our people. As such we have developed a role suitable for a candidate who is at the beginning of their clinical pharmacy journey, but who is enthusiastic about developing their career within cancer and palliative care. This role is designed to give the successful applicant an opportunity to work within the foundation pharmacist framework in a specialist area, by supporting you through obtaining your post graduate clinical diploma and developing your skills and knowledge, in order to achieve the desired level of expertise to carry out the band 7 role effectively. The post graduate clinical diploma will be fully funded by OUH (subject to a mutual learning contract), and appropriate study leave allocated.

The successful applicant will be appointed at a band 6 level, and will need to achieve set objectives. On completion of meeting these objectives, the post holder will be uplifted to a band 7 level.

The Cancer Pharmacy Team at OUH is a large team comprising of pharmacy assistants, medicines management technicians, advanced cancer technicians (the first in the country), advanced and highly advanced cancer pharmacists and consultant pharmacists in both cancer and palliative care. We are truly passionate about providing excellent patient care to our patients.

Main duties of the job

Key roles include:o Delivery of high quality pharmaceutical care to adult cancer in-patients, day-case, and out-patients across two sites - Churchill Hospital and Horton General Hospital.o Participation in pharmacy services to the Day Treatment Unit to optimise patients' medication and reduce medicines wastage.o Clinical checking of systemic anticancer treatment (SACT) and SACT clinical trial prescriptions.o Participating in multidisciplinary ward roundso Pharmacist led oral anti-cancer treatment education clinicso Pharmacist non-medical prescribing in multidisciplinary clinics and day treatment unito Aseptics experience within Pharmacy's Clinical Trials Aseptic Services Unit (CTASU)o Participating in the day to day running of the CTASU and developing knowledge in quality control and quality assurance.o Involvement in cancer phase I, II, and III clinical trialso Active participation in Thames Valley Cancer Alliance groups

The post holder will participate in the band 7 cancer pharmacist rotation which currently includes rotations through:o Oncology Wardo Haematology Wardo Day Treatment Unit (Oncology & Haematology)o SACT prescription clinical screeningo Early phase/Late phase research & SACT clinical trials screeningo Brodey Chemotherapy Day Unit, Horton Hospital, Banburyo Clinical Trials Aseptics Unito Cancer Clinical Trials Set Upo Palliative Careo Directorate rotation
