Specialist Senior Educational Psychologist

Walsall Educational Psychology Service has an exciting new opportunity for a full-time Specialist Senior EP to lead and develop practice in Communication, Interaction and ASC. The role will have dedicated 0.4 fte (2 days per week) specialist senior time. Key strands of this specialism will include:

• Collaborating with partner agencies (Health, CAMHS, SALT) to support pathways to identify and meet the needs of children with communication and interaction needs.
• Supporting the EPS to meet needs through keeping abreast of research, developments and interventions in this area
• Applying psychology in innovative and creative ways to support YP with social communication and interaction needs
• Developing and providing an ongoing program of training for frontline practitioners working with this client group (e.g., through SCERTS, Intensive Interaction, Video Self Modelling, Functional Behavioural Analysis, and using technology)
• Supervising and Supporting TEPs and Assistants with their learning and development.

The service has strong links with other teams within Children's Services, including Virtual School, Youth Justice, Early Help, and with Health and Social Care. As well as statutory casework, we provide core work (critical incident support and support for vulnerable children with EHCPs) and a range of traded psychological services to schools and settings where demand for the service remains high. We deliver the ELSA, SCERTS, Sandwell Wellbeing Charter Marker and EBSA initiatives in schools and are keen to develop new commissions from social care in relation to families work, for example., Note: Applicants appointed to posts that require an enhanced DBS clearance must declare any periods of time that they have lived, studied or worked abroad and be prepared to provide an Overseas Criminal Records Certificate (OCRC) or a Statement of Good Conduct (SOGC) relating to anytime they were overseas

The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
