Our 'Sandwell Deal', brings together our new improved offering that make Sandwell Children's Trust a great place to work; it also sets out our expectations of you as a member of staff., A fixed term contract has arisen for a Senior Strengthening Families Practitioner within a busy and vibrant Strengthening Families Service that offers family support within the Wednesbury area. The service has great working relationships with partners and offers a truly multi-agency way to improving the outcomes for children and families. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is passionate and committed to providing targeted support to children and families and who also has a strong desire to supervise the Strengthening Families Practitioners who are currently in the team. The post holders will be responsible for: -

  • To support the Team Manager to ensure that all Early Help casework is allocated Oversee the work of Strengthening Families Practitioners
  • To attend and where necessary chair reviews or other case planning meetings
  • To ensure that the views, wishes and feelings of children and young people are taken into account and reflected in the work that we do
  • To ensure timely escalation and transition of casework so that families are well informed and receive good continuity of service
  • To hold a small caseload of cases and offer direct work and intervention to families with complex needs.

    Three years' direct experience of working within a child, young people or families setting where a caseload has been held.
  • NVQ level 3 or above in a Social Care, Education, Health, Youth & Community Service or Early Years.
  • Experience of delivering direct work with children and young people with a range of complex needs.
  • Experience of completing complex assessments, SMART planning and delivering interventions.
  • Experience of challenge and supporting families and agencies to achieve positive change.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the range of service provision for families with multiple and complex needs.
  • An understanding of Children Centres and other commissioned services aims and objectives.
  • Ability to work assertively in a multi-agency team, putting the needs, well-being and safety of the child(ren) and family at the heart of everything you do.
  • Experience of chairing and co-ordinating multi-agency meetings and having the ability to professionally challenge to bring about change.
