Full Job Description

Due to increased pupil numbers we are seeking to appoint an inspirational, motivated and enthusiastic teacher to complement the work of the school. This role is open to primary and secondary trained teachers with a subject specialism in Computing and ICT. This provides an excellent opportunity to bring your creativity, passion and professionalism to deliver the best for our pupils. The Westminster School is a highly successful Special School catering for over 275 pupils from KS3 to KS5, with a range of special educational needs. The teacher will be delivering our KS3 ICT and Computing Curriculum and discrete ICT/Computing qualifications. At present we deliver ICT qualifications in conjunction with WJEC, ASDAN and NCFE boards from levels Entry 1 to Level 2. We are looking to develop our curriculum in the coming years to combine ICT and Computing in a functional and meaningful way for our learners. We want our students to be equipped with the skills to thrive and be safe in a technology rich society. We are excited to identify how technological developments can support the refinements of the curriculum to utilise emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence.

    The Westminster School is a Special School in Rowley Regis which currently caters for 275 pupils aged 7 to 19 years with moderate learning disabilities plus additional needs. The Westminster School takes great pride in being able to deliver an innovative child-centred curriculum. The school's curriculum is focused around 6 holistic areas: My Communication, My Community, My Care and Independence, My Creativity, My Thinking, My Wellbeing. Traditionally the education system required the child needed to fit into the curriculum, at The Westminster School the curriculum wraps around the young person meeting them at the point of need. Our work on supported internships and supported apprenticeships for students with learning disabilities are at the forefront of national developments. We moved to our new site in February 2011. The School was purpose built. Most ground floor classrooms have access to outside spaces, incorporating Learning Outside the Classroom into our enriched curriculum.
