About the Company: Europa School of English runs fun and entertaining summer camps for our European students visiting the UK on language holidays. UK Centres for 2025 will run in Bournemouth, Exeter, Winchester, Southend-on-Sea, Bishop's Stortford. Students between the ages of 11 to 17 travel to our centres in the UK and take part in lessons in the mornings and trips and activities in the afternoons and evenings. Students stay in residential accommodation on site., The Teaching Coordinator is responsible for the smooth running of the academic department within their assigned centre. It is their duty to provide comprehensive care and supervision for both teachers and students, adhering diligently to company policies. The Teaching Coordinator must ensure the constant high-quality service that our customers have come to expect. The centre must run in strict accordance with our established policies, procedures and the high standards set forth by the British Council. Requirements:
- Full-time onsite availability in the centre (Monday-Friday, 8am - 2 or 3pm), Attend training sessions on all administration tasks to be ready to run the academic side in your centre to the company's standards.
- If necessary, help with the recruitment of teaching staff with the assistance of the Director of Studies.
- Assist with the preparation, upgrade and production of curriculum materials.
- Provide induction for all teaching staff in your centre (prior the season or on their first day).
- Set up and manage communication systems that will be essential for the management of your teaching team during the season.
- Meet and liaise with the management team of the summer camp.
- Meet and liaise with campus staff where necessary (depending on centre location).
- Familiarise yourself with the company policies and procedures regarding safeguarding and student welfare.
- Familiarise yourself with the products on offer in the centre to ensure our offer is in line with client expectations. Responsibilities during the main season:
- Provide on-site induction prior the season or on teachers' first day.
- Train teachers to use the App to monitor student attendance.
- Provide support and guidance for teaching staff in the centre.
- Ensure the availability of materials for all teachers.
- Host and record weekly teacher meetings.
- Carry out lesson observations and brief feedback sessions with the teaching staff and write references for teaching staff at the end of the season.
- Maintain academic administration (e.g. class registers, class lists, records of work).
- Plan and allocate teaching hours by producing a weekly teaching timetable.
- Record teaching hours electronically in a timesheet.
- Manage student testing, class placement, feedback, reporting, certificate completion and
- Manage student, group leader and agent enquiries as far as teaching is concerned.
- Take immediate action on any complaints and any damage reports, reporting to the Centre Manager.
- Work closely with the Management team (Centre Manager) and Director of Studies to ensure academic part is well-integrated. Communicate with providers and partners within the destination.
- Assist with the recruitment of a limited number of teaching staff in emergency situations during the season with the assistance of the Director of Studies.
- Implement and have knowledge of our safeguarding policies and procedures including our guidelines on safer recruitment. Remuneration:
- Employees will receive 60 GBP weekly from 19/05/2024 to 26/06/2024, to be invoiced in arrears.
- Employees will receive 550 GBP weekly (to be invoiced in arrears)
University degree - DELTA or equivalent (Level 7, Master's) is preferred, CELTA or equivalent is essential. - Right to work in the UK.
- 2 up-to-date references (which will be checked).
- Safeguarding our young students is the most important priority for our school and as such no contracts will be awarded without full ID checks, references and appropriate police/DBS checks.
- Participation in Safeguarding training (provided by us).
- DBS certificate or police clearance (not older than 1 year). To be paid for by us if not available.
- Excellent English language skills, ability to communicate in one or more additional language is a plus.
- Good organisational and time-management skills, ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Experience in leading and managing a team (ideally in an international context). Experience in running a busy, international summer/holiday camp is a huge advantage.
- Successfully completion of our pre-season training sessions as well as participation in the Destination Training in the Summer Centre (3 days before the opening of the season).
Willingness to check emails during weekday evenings and weekends to address any potential teacher absences or urgent matters.
