Full Job Description

The Travel Coordination Officer works as part of a team to assess and review school transport eligibility applications. There is a requirement for high standards of accuracy and attention to detail. The Officer must work to the appropriate standards of customer care and with the correct regulation interpretation in respect of policy.

Good interpersonal and analytical skills are essential, including the ability to explain eligibility decisions to NNC Officers, Schools and members of the public., You will have good levels of spoken and written English and an ability to relay (in writing and verbally) complex eligibility issues in plain English to a variety of stakeholders. You will be confident analysing transport issues and offer sound, reliable, travel solutions for children and young people, especially those with additional needs or disabilities. Experience of working in a similar role would therefore be an advantage. Able to work under your own initiative, within the framework set by legislation and policy, you will have the ability to plan and organise your time to ensure that deadlines and agreed targets are met, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and consistency. Workload varies across the year, but is particularly high over the Summer months, so you will need to be able to continue to work effectively and consistently even under pressure. We use MS Desktop applications to deliver our services effectively and efficiently, with a strong reliance on Teams and Excel. Experience of using a sophisticated database administration systems package and associated reporting tools would also be advantageous. Above all we are looking for someone who is a strong team player, able and willing to work with their colleagues in a very busy environment, and play a key part in delivering high quality, affordable and sustainable services for the Residents of North Northamptonshire.
