Full Job Description

We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young adults to engage with education. Do you have the drive to inspire and empower those who need it most? If so, we want you to join our team. Wiltshire College & University Centre is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Variable Hours Lecturer to support and teach our learners who are not currently in education, employment or training. You will play a crucial role in re-engaging young people with education, helping them build essential skills, confidence, and a sense of purpose. What you'll be doing:

  • Delivering inspiring and engaging lessons tailored to meet the needs of young people who may have faced challenges in traditional education settings.
  • Providing one-on-one support and mentoring to guide students in overcoming barriers to learning, employment, or training.
  • Creating a supportive, inclusive, and positive learning environment that encourages personal growth and career development.
  • Collaborating with external agencies and colleagues to ensure learners receive holistic support, including mental health and well-being resources.
  • Designing flexible lesson plans and programmes that can be adapted to individual learning styles and goals.
  • Assessing learner progress providing constructive feedback and helping them achieve qualifications or gain confidence to take the next step in their lives.

A passion for working with young people, especially those who have become disengaged from traditional education systems.
  • Experience in teaching, mentoring, or supporting learners in vocational or educational settings. A recognised teaching qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience - you'll be working with individuals who may need extra support in overcoming personal and educational challenges. These young people may be some of the hardest to reach young people.
  • Ability to work flexibly, managing your time and adapting to the changing needs of your students.
  • If you're ready to make a difference and be part of a team that's transforming lives, we'd love to hear from you. Lecturer in NEET - Benefits
