Full Job Description

The post holder will ensure the highest standard of care is delivered to research subjects and, where relevant their families, in partnership with all members of the multi disciplinary and research teams

The post holder displays excellent communication and leadership skills, and is responsible for the day-to-day line management of their team. He / she is also responsible for standards of cleanliness in the clinical research area and for a well maintained research environment

The post holder will track and manage study finances in order to ensure the effective operation and completion of the study(ies) within budget. He/she is an authorised signatory for financial and physical resources

To actively participate in the development of R&D strategies, policies and plans to build capacity for research within and across the Trust, in line with Department of Health strategy, Manage people and financial resources to ensure the effective operation of the team for which he/ she is responsible.2. Allocate work and assess performance of the team members objectively against set criteria/ competencies. Be responsible for ensuring that individual performance review and personal development plans are completed for each staff member. Provide clear feedback to team members in a way that is conducive to maintaining and improving performance. Work closely with the Human Resources Department as appropriate.3. Demonstrate excellent personal communication. Establish and maintain effective two-way communication channels with individuals and groups. Demonstrate appropriate assertiveness and ability to challenge others when the rights of patients and others may be infringed4. Be responsible for the standard of care delivered for research purposes. Demonstrate that patients and their carers / relatives where relevant are involved in both decisions affecting their care and
wellbeing, and in service development.

5. Practice in accordance with the professional, ethical and legal codes of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (or Health Professions Council if relevant), and Trust's protocols and guidelines. Be accountable for own practice and for the delegation of care he / she gives to more junior colleagues.6. Be responsible for the standards of cleanliness in the clinical research area and for a well maintained research environment.7. Prioritise workload to meet targets. Ensure that Nursing and Operational Management teams are alerted to quality issues.8. Be responsible for ensuring the clinical research area practices within Data Protection/ Confidentiality/ Caldicott principles.9. Actively promote diversity, including race diversity, both in the delivery of the Directorate's services and in the recruitment, management and development of staff within the clinical area. Generate and sustain relationships that promote dignity, rights and responsibilities. Identify and take action to address
discrimination and oppression.10. Promote interdisciplinary working, with outcomes aimed at the best interest of patients.
