Full Job Description

Job Title: Youth Transition Coach – North Somerset - Effective Transitions Fund

Hours: 30 hrs term time only

(An additional week of work is required after GCSE results day in Year 11, in addition to the standard term time).

Youth Connect South West is a young people's charity working in Bath and North East Somerset and the surrounding area. We support young people to enjoy today, prepare for tomorrow and become the people they want to be.


We are seeking to appoint a Youth Transition Coach to support The Effective Transitions Fund Project, which is being implemented for a second time, building on its prior success in delivering targeted interventions that help disadvantaged young people achieve better post-16 outcomes.


The project aims to support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds by providing them with a dedicated Transitions Coach and tailored interventions. This approach is designed to raise their aspirations, improve their academic attainment, and ensure a smooth transition into post-16 education.


Phase 2 of the project focuses on continuing to deliver long-term, targeted transition support to help disadvantaged young people overcome barriers and move towards high-quality post-16 destinations.


As a Youth Transition Coach on this project, you will work closely with selected young people in Years 10 and 11, developing positive relationships, creating action plans, delivering tailored 1:1 and group sessions to achieve the project’s goals.


You will also collaborate directly with schools, families, employers, and other partner agencies to ensure the effective delivery of sessions and to promote a clear understanding of the project among all stakeholders.


Education & Qualifications

GCSE Maths and English – Grade C/4 or above


Level 4 Information, Advice and Guidance qualification

OR

Level 3 Youth Work qualification as recognised by the JNC Report for Youth and Community Workers

OR

Another relevant Level 3 or above qualification i.e. Social Work, PGCE. with

relevant experience of direct work with young people from a diverse range of backgrounds and with a variety of needs.
