Full Job Description
As a Waking Night Young Persons Scheme Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the young people in our service throughout the night. You will provide emotional and practical support, assist with any issues that may arise during the night, and contribute to a calm and stable environment.
To excel as a Scheme Support Officer, you don't necessarily need previous experience or specific qualifications. Instead, this role requires:
- Flexibility: Adapt to the dynamic nature of the job and handle a variety of tasks efficiently.
- Enthusiasm, Motivation, and Creativity: Approach your work with passion and innovative thinking.
- Initiative: Work independently in a busy environment, making informed decisions on your own.
- Team Player: Collaborate effectively with colleagues, contributing positively to the team.
- Communication Skills: Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Our goal is to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to live independently. This is a challenging role that involves addressing complex behaviours and needs, including alcohol misuse, mental health issues, substance misuse, and offending behaviour. You will encounter a variety of personalities and behaviours, some of whom may be resistant to the support we offer. Therefore, you must be adaptable in your approach to engaging with a diverse clientele. This is a lone working role, so needs a person who is communicative, resilient and confident to work on their own initiative. You will receive a comprehensive induction period before you start working your wakeful shifts.
- Competitive salary of £24,531.00 FTE
- Part-time, permanent positions 30hrs waking nights
- Work Pattern: Waking Nights - 3 consecutive nights per week on a 4 week rolling rota
- Opportunity for overtime
- Our service is staffed 24/7 therefore shifts include working weekends & bank holidays.
- For this role you will require an Enhanced DBS check, which we pay for.
- 26 days (pro rata) holiday entitlement plus Bank holidays

Part time 12.15 per hr We are looking for a passionate and dedicated night owl to join our team on a part-time (30hrs), permanent basis. This is a great opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people. Where does the role fit it? Swansea Young Persons service provides temporary accommodation to young people aged 16-24 who are experiencing homelessness. The service delivers intensive housing related supported to individuals who are ready to gain independence and a tenancy of their own.,
