Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a Cleaning Manager within the Facilities Management section of Property Services. The focus of this post is to be responsible for the City Council's cleaning team, playing a key role in the management, organisation and development of a team of operational cleaning staff, whom deliver a fully comprehensive and fit for purpose cleaning service to the City Council's buildings within the city and its outlying areas. The postholder will ensure cleaning services are responsive to customer issues, meet health and safety requirements and identify and implement best practice throughout the cleaning service. We are looking for someone with:

  • Significant and proven management expertise within the cleaning industry to oversee the range of duties and staff issues pertinent to the role.

    Experience of cleaning related contracts, including purchasing, plus other related supplier relationships.
  • Sound knowledge of all relevant Health and Safety legislation and experience of the practical management of Health and Safety at work within the cleaning environment.
  • An ability to manage all resources within budgets and deliver/exceed expected service results.
  • An ability to lead and motivate staff and to generate a successful team spirit.
  • You will be committed to personal and professional development and this role is an opportunity to further develop your skills in providing a key role within a busy facilities management environment. We offer flexible working, both home and office based, and 25 days holiday (rising to 30 days after 5 years). This post is not suitable as a job share opportunity. As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level B2: Can adjust to the changes of direction, style and emphasis normally found in conversation. Can produce stretches of language with a fairly even tempo; although they can be hesitant as they search for patterns and expressions, there are few noticeably long pauses. Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
