Full Job Description

This post presents a unique and exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified individual to become involved in the new Haemato-oncology service created by the integration of haemato-oncology services from the Royal Liverpool Hospital and Aintree University Hospitals (now LUHFT) with Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. The post includes the following key remits:

  • To contribute to the delivery of haemato-oncology (with focus on myeloma and myeloid), stem cell & cellular therapy services in CCCL and outpatient and consultative haemato-oncology at Aintree site of LUHFT.
  • To contribute, and lead on clinical trials and research.
  • To contribute to a high-quality, sustainable, integrated haemato-oncology services over CCCL and Aintree sites.
  • This Consultant post offers opportunities for career development and involvement in teaching, research, and innovation in the areas of myeloid disorders, BMT and cellular therapy. This post will be based mainly on the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre site with sessions in the Aintree hospital site and on-call work at CCCL. The notional job plan includes a total of 10 programmed activities and 0.5 PA for predictable on call., Clinical duties will include outpatient and inpatient clinical work (myeloid, myeloma and stem cell transplantation) in CCC-L. It includes in reach and consultative work for Aintree site LUHFT one day a week and participation in a shared on-call commitment covering CCCL. Formal laboratory sessions may be included depending on applicant interest. The post holders will participate in the Consultant Haemato-oncology on-call rota, which is based at the CCCL with SpR operating a first on call system. This will be an approximately 1 in 10 on-call commitment.
