Full Job Description

Working within the Engine Systems Team, you will have accountability for the development and implementation of electrical and electronic control systems for diesel engines and advanced powertrains developed by Caterpillar in the UK. What You Will Do This Senior Engineer position will provide the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity to lead cross functional, global Teams in the delivery of Engine and Powertrain system projects, that ultimately support our client and customer's business needs. This role has accountability for the end-to-end delivery of solutions, right from requirement capture through to solution implementation. Typical project activities will include:

  • Design, plan and manage coordinated design and development of integrated engine Electrical and Electronic Control Systems
  • Solicit and capture system and customer requirements
  • Evaluate and analyse any product design & requirements changes.
  • Plan, develop and execute validation activities to mitigate program risk and ensure the system is verified and validated for production.
  • Identify and resolve new & current product development issues
  • Application and Installation (A&I) support to internal and external customers
  • Contribution to FMEA, functional safety and product compliance reviews
  • Provide the interface and fulfil local ownership responsibilities for components and systems developed by the worldwide team
  • Regular reporting of project status and progress to both internal and external Stakeholders.
  • Technical coaching and mentoring of team members

  • Top candidates will have proven Lead or Senior Systems Engineer with the ability to successfully plan, prioritise, execute and lead a number of Electronic System projects at one time
  • Technical background in engine control systems development, analysis and/or integration (electronics or mechanical)
  • Effective Communication skills: understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Teamwork: Knowledge of the necessity and value of teamwork; the ability to work cooperatively towards shared goals and being supportive of others at all levels.
  • Continuous Improvement : the desire to continually evolve and grow personal skills, implement process improvements and enhance products.
