Full Job Description
Joining our Convenience Category Team at Sainsbury's means becoming part of a dynamic and passionate group of individuals who are committed to delivering the best value and range across our convenience channel. We take pride in our ability to adapt Sainsbury's corporate ways of working and utilise cross-functional collaboration, analytical expertise, and attention to detail to ensure that our Sainsbury's Local Stores consistently meet the needs of our customers. As a Convenience Ranging Manager, you will have the opportunity to work with a variety of stakeholders, develop strategic ranging hypotheses, and lead analytics and insights that drive ranging activities across the channel. By joining our team, you will actively contribute to our Food First mission and help us deliver on our brand commitment of Helping Everyone Eat better. With a supportive and sociable environment, we bring energy and drive to tailor ranges and deliver value for our customers.
What you'll do
As a Convenience Ranging Manager, you will play a crucial role in the Convenience Category Team by supporting the development of strategic ranging hypotheses and leading the analytics and insights that drive ranging activity across the channel. Collaborating with the Convenience Category Partners, Display, and Category Teams, you will utilise data and insights to solve business problems and agree on merchandising principles that enhance the customer shopping experience. Your responsibilities will include delivering tactical range changes, conducting large-scale range reviews, and post-implementation reviews. By consistently applying analytical thinking, you will combine historical and market data, relevant insight, and range knowledge to respond to a variety of range hypotheses. Your ability to manipulate data effectively and articulate recommendations will be essential as you develop periodic and quarterly reports to communicate key customer and ranging performance indicators, driving
awareness and supporting decision-making. You will also develop relationships with cross-functional teams and champion retail engagement to ensure successful range reviews and timely responses to business challenges. Using your strong communication and influencing skills, you will collaborate with key stakeholders and support the delivery of the ranging process.
Who you are
As a Convenience Ranging Manager, you are a highly analytical and strategic thinker with a strong passion for delivering value and providing the best ranges for Sainsbury's Local customers. With your keen eye for detail and ability to adapt Sainsbury's corporate ways of working, you excel in collaborating cross-functionally to solve business problems and develop strategic ranging hypotheses. Your experience in data manipulation and analysis, coupled with your knowledge of retail market trends, allows you to effectively manipulate data, provide recommendations, and communicate key insights to key stakeholders. Your strong project management skills enable you to handle multiple projects and respond quickly to changing business needs, while your exceptional communication and influencing skills contribute to successful range reviews and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities:
We'd all like amazing work to do, and real work-life balance. That's waiting for you at Sainsbury's. Here, everything in our stores starts out in Food Commercial. Whether it's the product, proposition, packaging or price, or the fact that something tastes great, our team is responsible for all food items available in store, digitally and on demand. You'll discover it's incredibly fast-paced. People here are in it together and not afraid to take risks. They're enthusiastic too, and their amazing leadership team is right behind them. The knowledge and experience you gain here could set you up for career moves, anywhere else in the business. So, if you're passionate about food and just as hungry to learn, you'll fit in perfectly.
We are committed to being a truly inclusive retailer, so you'll be welcomed whoever you are and wherever you work. Around here, there's always the chance to try something new - whether that's as part of an evolving team or somewhere else across the business - and we take development seriously and promise to support you. We also recognise and celebrate colleagues when they go the extra mile and, where possible, offer flexible working. When you join our team, we'll also offer you an amazing range of benefits. Here are some of them
Starting off with colleague discount, you'll be able to get 10% off at Sainsbury's, Argos, TU and Habitat after 4 weeks. This increases to 15% off at Sainsbury's every Friday and Saturday and 15% off at Argos every pay day. We've also got you covered for your future with our pensions scheme and life cover. You'll also be able to share in our success as you may be eligible for a performance-related bonus of up to 10% of salary, depending on how we perform.
Your wellbeing is important to us too. You'll receive an annual holiday allowance, and you can buy additional holiday. We also offer other benefits that will help your money go further such as season ticket loans, cycle to work scheme, health cash plans, pay advance (where you can access some of your pay before pay day) as well access to a great range of discounts from hundreds of other retailers. And if you ever need it there is also an employee assistance programme.
Moments that matter are as important to us as they are to you which is why we give up to 26 weeks' pay for maternity or adoption leave and up to 4 weeks' pay for paternity leave.
Please see www.sainsburys.jobs for a range of our benefits (note, length of service and eligibility criteria may apply).
