Full Job Description

· Play a leadership role in the technical implementation of complex software development projects.

· Architect solutions that meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.

· Drive technical excellence through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.

· Conduct code reviews, debugging, and performance tuning to ensure software quality and reliability.

· Collaborate with stakeholders to understand needs and requirements and come up with practical solutions.

· Implement and advocate for best practices in software engineering and design patterns.

· Lead efforts to refactor and optimize existing codebase for efficiency and maintainability.

· Maintain and enhance existing software applications to optimize performance and functionality.

· Integrate prepackaged software and services into the bank's technology ecosystem.

· Stay updated on emerging technologies, trends, and tools to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

· Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and direction.

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

· Strong expertise in building enterprise software across the full stack using primarily Java for back end development and Angular for front end.

· Experience with commonly used frameworks and utilities across the stack such as Spring, NGRX and other open source utilities and libraries.

· Experience with relational databases, writing and fine-tuning queries in SQL.

· Experience with automated unit and integration testing.

· Some experience of coding in Scala, C#, Python, shell scripting.

· Mentorship of junior team members and code review expertise.

· Ability to push forward technical initiatives and provide leadership on projects.

· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

· Understanding the secured financing domain and basic financial concepts will be beneficial.

At least 4 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role.

We're seeking a full-stack software developer, with Java and Angular expertise, to join our team in the Prime Brokerage & Secured Financing Technology department. You will join a squad responsible for developing the front office trading systems used in Morgan Stanley to trade in the secured financing markets and manage its funding liabilities. This is a high impact role where you will partner with traders in Financial Resources & Strategy to build technology solutions that manage the firm funding portfolio of over $100 billion.
