Full Job Description

  • Building relationships with key stakeholders to deliver an effective graduate and apprentice recruitment strategy and process to your client groups/offices.
  • Improving candidate attraction through proactive work with Universities and education providers.
  • Differentiating Eversheds Sutherland as an employer through market leading and differentiated activities.
  • Managing campus activities including leading on presentations and events, open days and insight evenings.
  • Thinking proactively and innovatively to increase our presence and the awareness of our employer brand.
  • Keeping our external webpages and marketing materials, brochures and online profiles updated.
  • Managing the full selection process including screening applications and video interviews, running assessment centres, wash-ups, candidate offers and delivering feedback.
  • Engaging with and supporting our future talent in the two years prior to joining, ensuring they are on track with their legal education and prepared for relevant examinations.
  • Facilitating the Vacation Schemes with key stakeholders for the offices you support.
  • Leading our emerging talent social media accounts and campaigns, promoting the employer brand on social media.
  • Supporting the Emerging Talent Business Partner who focuses on trainee and apprentice development, where required.
  • Managing any other graduate recruitment processes for any non-legal programmes which may take place.
  • Managing applications via the applicant tracking system.
  • Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on key recruitment metrics.
  • Contributing to emerging talent strategy.
  • Responsibility for specific projects.
  • Working to build your network in the emerging talent space to ensure we can learn from best practice and be a progressive emerging talent team
  • Representing Eversheds Sutherlands in the external market with school leavers and graduate level, including school presentations, careers fairs and other campus activity.

    Experienced in graduate/apprentice recruitment activities with a successful track record of working with universities and schools/colleges to attract and select high calibre and diverse candidates.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the legal education system and routes to qualification in England & Wales, and Scotland.
  • Professional, demonstrating ability to build effective relationships at many levels and be an ambassador for the firm externally.
  • High level of ambition and a practical can-do mentality.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues from a variety of backgrounds and experience levels.
  • A range of influencing skills, personal impact and communication skills that will ensure credibility with candidates and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • High levels of attention to detail, and exemplary writing and use of grammar.
  • Competent in the use of information systems, including applicant tracking systems.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • A good understanding and practical experience of student recruitment within a law firm or other professional services organisation.
  • Geographically mobile, and able to travel within the UK regularly, as required by the role.
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard office hours.

Our team The Emerging Talent team is responsible for the recruitment of the firm's Trainee Solicitors and Apprentice Solicitors across our UK offices, as well as managing the development of those individuals to the point of qualification. It is currently an established team of five in the UK, encompassing the Senior Emerging Talent Manager, three Emerging Talent Business Partners and an Emerging Talent Co-ordinator. We are looking for an experienced Emerging Talent Business Partner. Your role would be to attract and recruit high calibre and diverse emerging talent across a number of our offices, as well as working to ensure we are the graduate employer of choice in the legal sector. Location Birmingham based but the role will involve considerable travel to our offices in London and elsewhere. This will involve working outside of core office hours, including evenings and overnight stays, at key points in the year., We're a modern, progressive law firm.
