We are looking for individuals with exceptional communication skills and a passion for public service to become Force Control Room (FCR) Call Handlers/Radio Dispatchers within Gloucestershire Constabulary.

About the role
As a Call Handler/Radio Dispatcher, you will be part of an inclusive team of professionals delivering an excellent service to the public.

You will work in an environment which changes from minute-to-minute. No two days will be the same as you ensure that the public feel valued; helping to build confidence in the police service. You will be dealing with emergency and non-emergency contact via a variety of channels.

As a Call Handler, you will receive calls from members of the public who may be distressed and in a time critical situation. You will need to take control, gain relevant information and make dynamic decisions whilst being empathetic, compassionate and supportive.

As a Radio Dispatcher, you will be responsible for allocating resources to incidents, prioritising and risk assessing the incidents that our police officers need to attend. You will be responsible for assisting officers out in the community, providing them with updates, intelligence and directions.

You will be trained as both a Call Handler and a Radio Dispatcher, performing each role as required by the Constabulary.

Please note the shift pattern as a Call Handler/Radio Dispatcher will be working a 24/7 pattern and includes bank holidays and weekends.

Type of Contract Permanent, This position attracts a shift allowance of 34.32%, which commences after the completion of the initial training course when the successful applicants start working the 24/7 shift pattern.

Following successful completion of initial training and commencing 24/7 shift pattern:

Scale 4 salary with shift allowance (34.32%) = £35,065 - £36,664
Following successful completion of Radio Dispatch training and working 24/7 shift pattern:

Scale 5 salary (£29,109 - £31,296) with shift allowance (34.32%) = £39,099 - £42,036
