We are looking for a talented and motivated GIS Officer to support our geographic information systems and contribute to various projects across the council. In our Digital Change & Service Improvement Team at Bracknell Forest Council, you will be working alongside developers, business analysts and content writers. We're a team where GIS expertise intersects with creativity and strategic thinking. As we architect and manage robust GIS systems, balance varied responsibilities, and develop insightful data visualisations, our collaborative environment encourages innovation and supports meaningful digital transformation and service improvements. The ideal GIS Officer is someone who possesses strong GIS expertise to support the Council's goals, works independently with minimal supervision, and makes strategic decisions impacting the Council and its constituents. They will communicate complex information clearly and ensure alignment of mapping software, services and data with the Council's needs., Architect and maintain a robust Geographic Information System (GIS) in line with statutory, ICT and data management standards. Serve as the authoritative figure for GIS data governance, managing all aspects of internal and external GIS-related system integrations. To lead on the design, creation and maintenance of appropriate GIS intranet and internet-based GIS applications used by staff, public and partner organisations. Create maps and visual representations with georeferencing, digitising and data entry. To monitor the use of GIS software and systems throughout the Council, advise on best practice and maintain a GIS strategy as part of the overall IT strategy.
