Full Job Description

As an Infrastructure Architect in our Defence and National Security business, you will play a crucial role in responding to bids for new business, assisting colleagues in elevating their technological skills and knowledge, and ensuring successful delivery of infrastructure. You will have significant experience of a variety of infrastructure technology including hyper-converged infrastructure and software solutions from Microsoft, VMware as well as those focussed on operational monitoring, backup and security. This is a senior technical position requiring commercial experience and leadership skills. Your role

  • Design infrastructure solutions to meet customer needs including stringent security requirements.
  • Collaborate with other subject matter experts to integrate solutions with existing systems and technologies.
  • Prepare RFI and bid response material, both collaboratively and independently.
  • Mentor and advise colleagues working on gaining or augmenting their own skills.
  • Provide technical expertise and support during the testing, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues.
  • Develop and maintain automation and documentation including architectural diagrams, standard operating procedures, and technical guides.
  • Keep updated on technologies, trends, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

    1. Proven experience designing, implementing, and managing IT infrastructure including operating systems, network services, operational monitoring and backup and recovery.
  • 2. Experience working within highly virtualised and cloud environments. 3. Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and scripting for infrastructure automation. 4. Knowledge and experience of working to one or more recognised security standards, frameworks or benchmarks. 5. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with a keen attention to detail. 6. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative Agile team environment and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 7. Relevant certifications are highly desirable. 8. While this role can support hybrid working there will be occasions when flexibility is reduced to participate in collaborative teams. Candidates must be able to visit customer sites and work from our Basingstoke office as required. 9. Eligibility and willingness to undergo UK security vetting, ideally to DV level.
