Full Job Description

As an Infrastructure Solution Designer you will work within a small team of Infrastructure Specialists to provide design & build support across our infrastructure technology landscape, including end to end execution of the delivery design lifecycle. You will be required to work alongside our Demand Management team, Architecture group, Network, VMware, Storage, Database, Application, Messaging and Operational teams to create low level designs covering a wide variety of our infrastructure, including some complex implementations, covering both Data Centre and Private Cloud. The difference you'll make:

  • Designing infrastructure system solutions (VMware, VCF, SAN, VSAN, NAS, vNAS, OracleDB, MS-SQL DB, IBM MQ, Rabbit MQ, L3 Switching/Routing, L2 Switching, Firewall) to enable product delivery and transformation
  • Working with key stakeholders to translate high level Architecture into detailed solution designs that meet the bank's patterns, standards and overall strategy
  • Providing technical development and oversight for the implementation of infrastructure solutions, specialising in the design, and development of systems and infrastructures based on preferences and industry standards
  • Contributing towards design improvements that allow for more efficient support of the environment, applications and customers
  • Participating in technical planning sessions, to help determine most appropriate technical placement and solution to achieve customer demands
  • Contributing towards the evolution of an efficient Infrastructure demand management process to ensure accurate discovery of requirements, through to implementation of Design & Build

    Proven experience of creating Low Level Design solutions within a Private Cloud & Data Centre environment, encompassing compute, virtualisation, containerisation, middleware, database, storage, Linux, Windows, Datacentre Network, Azure Cloud with SME knowledge across at least 3 of the disciplines
  • Excellent written and communication skills. Able to work alongside key stakeholders to reach optimum solutions, that are both cost effective and secure
  • Ability to design solutions that are highly resilient in a cost effective and secure manner
  • Ability to operate in a fast moving environment, working on several projects simultaneously
  • Expertise and demonstrable experience managing large-scale technology deployments
  • Knowledge of computer architecture and system software interaction; ability to design and build a fundamental architecture of operating systems, database management systems, communications protocols
  • It would also be nice for you to have:
  • Experience of designing solutions for large-scale technology deployments in a highly regulated environment
  • Good knowledge of both converged and hyperconverged infrastructure design and implementations
  • Effective communication and diplomacy skills to help guide and influence others
