Full Job Description

We are looking for a locum consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest Pelvic and Acetabular Trauma, General Trauma and Lower Limb Arthroplasty. You will be predominantly based at The Royal London Hospital, but with regular clinical sessions at the Barts Health Orthopaedic Centre in Newham. You will be joining a department of 55 consultant orthopaedic surgeons., 1. Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care
2. Leadership, development and organisation on the services in his/her charge in line with the Trusts business plans. Liaison and communication with the lead clinician, General Manager, Service Manager, Clinical Leads and Directors for Orthopaedic Surgery across the Trust, and the Surgery Board Chair.
3. A major contribution to the department's on-going efforts to improve efficiency in both the delivery and the management of patient care including the 18-week referral to treatment standard, reducing length of stay, meeting BOAST guidelines and managing the ratio of new to follow up outpatient attendances in line with commissioner expectations.
4. With the agreement of the Clinical Lead and Clinical Network Director, development of his/her own interests and specialisms within the speciality, including active participation in research programmes.
5. Corporate and individual responsibility for the professional management of doctors in training including the approval and monitoring of on calls and locum appointments.

You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and preferably be on the Specialist Registrar or within 3 months of obtaining CCT.
