Full Job Description

HDFT are looking for an exceptional Operational Director (OD) to develop and lead our Planned Surgical and Children's Directorate at HDFT. Working as a triumvirate with the Clinical Director (CD) and Associate Director of Nursing (ADoN) and Associate Director of Midwifery (ADoM) and based upon the trust's overall strategic vision and accountability framework, the Operational Director will drive the directorate strategy and oversee sound systems of governance and performance. The leadership of the directorate involves partnership working and shared responsibility between the OD, CD and ADoN. The successful candidate will have a major role to play in leading the development of the Planned Surgical and Children's Directorate. Furthermore the ideal candidate will build great relationships within the system partners and deliver high quality services that are effective and sustainable., The Operational Director will be responsible for providing the necessary strategic direction, leadership and vision, to enable the Directorate to meet its objectives as set out in the corporate strategy and will have a prime role in the provision and development of services. The Operational Director will be responsible for the Operational Governance and the Clinical Governance within the Directorate. The ideal candidate will have highly-developed partnership working & leadership skills, a team-based approach, as well as drive & enthusiasm. The Operational Director will be accountable to the Chief Operating Officer for the operational, contractual, constitutional and financial performance of the Directorate, but may delegate aspects of these functions as appropriate. The Operational Director will be professionally advised by the Chief Operating Officer who will provide support, where appropriate, to ensure that the Operational Director delivers his/her responsibilities with regard to the delivery of high-quality care. You will be an experienced operational leader that demonstrates strategic thinking and planning, with proven experience of complex project management & leading multi-disciplinary teams in a healthcare environment.
