Full Job Description

The Payment Development Team in the NHS England Finance and Planning Directorate is now recruiting for a Payment Development Officer. This is a fantastic opportunity to be at the heart of work to support the NHS. We: Work closely with government to agree NHS funding; Ensure the NHS lives within its annual budget; Decide how to distribute the funding to the different NHS services and parts of England; Support innovative programmes that improve the care and experience of NHS patients or people using NHS services; Set out the financial and performance priorities the NHS should be delivering each year; Report how much the NHS has spent on providing services each year; Look at how spend on building or equipment can improve the care and experience of people using NHS services. Consider how nationally we use these resources to improve healthcare outcomes, reduce inequality, improve health and support the NHS. As a Payment Development Officer, you will be working in the Payment Development Team to support the operation of the Elective Recovery Fund. You will work with collaboratively across Payment Development and Production, whilst managing stakeholder relationships in the NHS Regional teams and the wider sector. You will also support policy development for the National Payment Scheme, which sets out the prices and policies for commissioning secondary care in England.Main duties of the job The team offers high profile, fast-paced projects. This requires adaptability, rigor and innovation and provides exciting development opportunities for those developing their careers in the NHS, health or the public sector. As a Payment Development Officer, you will: Support the delivery of the Elective Recovery Fund by: - Maintaining and developing the ERF analytical pipeline, using SQL and R. - Working directly with senior managers in Payment Development to develop new and innovative analytical solutions to emerging policy questions. - Build reports in Excel to support the operation of the ERF variable payment mechanism. and Support the delivery of the National Payment Scheme by: - Working collaboratively with Payment Production and Finance and Planning more widely to produce NHS Payment Scheme prices. - Supporting the development of new payment policies, NHS England hold a Sponsor Licence; this means that we may be able to sponsor you providing the Home Office requirements are met. To be eligible for sponsorship through the Skilled Worker route you'll usually need to be paid the 'standard' salary rate of at least £38,700 per year, or the 'going rate' for your job, whichever is higher.
