Full Job Description

The Cheshire & Merseyside Physiological Sciences Network is seeking to appoint a Practice Education Coordinator (PEC) for Respiratory and Sleep Physiology. The practice education coordinator will work closely with the Respiratory and Sleep Physiology network, training leads across Trust departments and will coordinate practice education in respiratory and sleep physiology across C&M.

The Practice Education Coordinator will provide training coordination and training package development expertise, use project management skills and be responsible for the development and implementation of a C&M respiratory supervisor/educator collaborative. The role will also lead workforce planning and training needs analysis for the Respiratory and Sleep Physiology network.

The role will support the development of a workforce plan for the Physiological Sciences Network and provide expert workforce and training advice and guidance in the development of the plan.

The post holder will work collaboratively with Trust respiratory and sleep physiology training leads, Respiratory and Sleep Physiology network lead, NHS England workforce and training leads and develop strong links with education establishments and other Health Care Scientists., To coordinate practice education in respiratory physiology and sleep physiology across C&M.

To focus on combined Respiratory and Sleep Physiology training as a priority area

To develop a supervisor/educator collaborative or network across C&M. The purpose of this network will be to support the education supervisors in each Trust.

The post holder will coordinate the development of the following areas via the educator collaborative:

- coordinate the development of a training package which will broaden students general respiratory and sleep physiology knowledge base;

- review and update preceptorship guidance documentation;

- coordinate the development of training/career pathways for respiratory and sleep physiologists;

- develop strong links with Universities and Academies

- continued provision of apprentice pathways at all levels

To assist with the development of a Physiological Science workforce strategy.

To lead workforce planning and training needs analysis for the Respiratory and Sleep Physiology network.

To promote best practice in training and education across Physiological Sciences

This is a Physiological Sciences network wide post working across Trusts within the Cheshire & Merseyside integrated care system

The Physiological Sciences Network is a part of the Cheshire and Merseyside Diagnostics Programme which is hosted by the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and incorporates all diagnostic tests that are delivered to our population. The programme is one of the transformation workstreams of the Cheshire and Merseyside Acute and Specialist Trust Collaborative.
