Full Job Description
Morrison Energy Services is recruiting for a Pre Contract Coordinator to work on our UKPN & SSEN contracts based in Stevenage.
We are looking for an organised and proactive Pre-Contract Coordinator to join our growing UK Power Networks team at Morrison Energy Services. This is a brand-new position where you will play a critical role in supporting the pre-contract design process for all Substation projects. You will support the Pre Contract team, ensuring all necessary information is obtained and key milestones are met on time. Your role will ensure the smooth progression of projects from initial concept and design stages through to handover to the build team.
MES is proud to be a key partner on the UKPN ED1SON Alliance & SSEN Framework Contract, delivering substation build and refurbishment works across the East of England including design, project management, on site cable installation, building construction, jointing, switchgear installation, bunding, commissioning, decommissioning and demolition.
As the Pre Contract Coordinator your key responsibilities will include:
- Assist the Pre Contract team with day-to-day engineering and design activities, ensuring the timely and accurate compilation of project documentation and design scopes.
- Receive, track, and submit technical queries from engineers to resolve design and any technical issues.
- Raise and manage requests for essential pre-design information, such as legacy records, surveys, OS tiles, and other project-specific data required for accurate design development.
- Liaising with stakeholders and maintaining tracker data base.
- Distribute tender documents, monitor progress, and follow up on responses to ensure adherence to project timelines.
- Ensure all design activities follow internal processes and industry standards, helping the team stay compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of key project documents, including orders, scope documents, survey results, concept designs, developed designs, and estimating data.
- Assist in the compiling of handover packages for the build team, ensuring all necessary documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and ready for implementation.
- Maintain records of design programs and progress, including critical project milestones, such as survey dates, concept design completion, estimating status, and subcontractor involvement.
- Act as the liaison between internal teams and external subcontractors, ensuring smooth communication and timely information flow across all parties.
- Proactively seek opportunities to improve the efficiency of pre-contract processes, contributing ideas and solutions to optimise workflows and project delivery.
This is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities and may be subject to change as the role develops in line with the needs of the company.

- Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously while keeping track of key dates and project requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams & subcontractors
- A team player with a collaborative approach, able to work closely with different departments and stakeholders
- A proactive attitude toward learning new processes and industry best practices.
