Full Job Description

Peterborough City Council's Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) is seeking an experienced flood risk professional to help achieve the goals of our Local Flood Risk Management Strategy. As Principal Officer, you will lead a small team focused on improving the water environment, investigating flooding incidents, implementing innovative flood risk management projects, and advising on surface water management for new developments in one of the fastest-growing cities in the country., You will work closely with our partnership organisations to develop collaborative projects and assist in sourcing third-party funding for projects throughout the city, while ensuring we meet our statutory duties under the Flood & Water Management Act 2010, the Highways Act 1980, and other relevant flood-related regulations and local policies. And, with Schedule 3 and the formation of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SABs) on the horizon, as Principal Officer, you will be instrumental in establishing this new service. You will lead the team through this period of change and collaborate with major developers during this transformative time. Additionally, as part of the combined team, you will have the chance to collaborate closely with colleagues in the Highway Development Control team. This role will allow you to deepen your understanding of highway control, from pre-application stages to on-site implementation. You will also influence how Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) are applied to adoptable highways. Our friendly team are based at Dodson house which is easily accessed via the A1 and the superb parkway system as well as working from home days in line with the councils agile working policy. In addition to this we offer:
