Full Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and flexible individual to assist in the delivery of all aspects of collections management including cataloguing and storage of the archives from Bristol Ideas/ Bristol Cultural Development.

Full Time, Fixed Term for 12 months., These records include physical archives, digital sound recordings and born digital material, and attention to detail is essential. You will look to integrate these archives into the Bristol Archives collections and will work with colleagues to ensure that they are fully accessible to researchers and the public.

Bristol is a vibrant City with a lively cultural offer, noted for its creativity and quality of life. Bristol Archives is an Accredited Archive Service, and part of Bristol Culture.
We care for records spanning ten centuries of the City's history which is Designated as an Outstanding Collection, as well as newly acquired archives from Bristol Ideas/ Bristol Cultural Development Partnership. This organisation was at the forefront of cultural development in Bristol in the late 20th and early 21st centuries and is funding this post.

You will need a postgraduate qualification in archive administration (or equivalent) and relevant professional archives experience.
You will also need to work on occasional Saturdays, evenings, and public holidays.

For permanent Bristol City Council employees, this post will be a secondment.
For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.
If you are currently a casual worker or a member of an employment agency (currently working with Bristol City Council) this post will be a fixed term contract.
