Full Job Description

As a Safety Engineer you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll work as part of Submarine Support Engineering (SSE) Team offering development opportunities to progress your career. This is an exciting role supporting the delivery of safety and environmental tasking for the next generation of Royal Navy Submarines and develop Babcock, SSE capability. Day to day you'll support the delivery of technical reports whilst engaging with various stakeholder across the Submarine industry. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing safety and environmental advice to industry via attendance at working groups and committees
  • Production of safety and environmental technical outputs
  • Management and technical assurance of safety and environment projects
  • This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite from any Babcock UK Hub and 3 days working from home.

  • Experience within an engineering safety background
  • Excellent communications skills and experience of stakeholder management
  • Self-motivated and ability to work off own initiative to ensure project deadlines are met
  • Qualifications for the Safety Engineer:
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant STEM discipline and/or relevant experience with a Level 5 qualifications and industry experience
  • IEng / CEng accredited with the Engineering Council or willingness to work towards as part as continuous professional development
  • Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
