Full Job Description
Are you passionate about building a best of breed cloud platform to host a wide variety of disparate solutions?, As a Senior Cloud Engineer, youll get to work within one of our agile Cloud teams building and supporting the platform for the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency's (DVLAs) cloud-first applications.
As a team, were responsible for designing, building, and operating cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure. We're investing a lot of up-front effort in building scalable, secure, and resilient systems, capable of supporting millions of transactions for UK Citizens.
Youll be primarily focussed on building out the Azure platform and influential in its development. Using modern and exciting technologies we are currently rebuilding our services leveraging a cloud-first approach using Azure serverless, Azure DevOps, Azure networking.
At DVLA you will get to work with a lot of exciting new technology, we get to trial multiple products and choose the best. These are some of the tools and technologies you will be using:
+ Azure Policy and Defender for Cloud to ensure the highest levels of security and governance.
+ A wide range of Azure IaaS and PaaS services to support our varied workloads (VMs, App Services, Functions, Azure SQL, App Gateway etc.)
+ Instana and Log Analytics to monitor
+ Bitbucket and Drone/DevOps for CI/CD
+ Elastic to ship our logs
+ Powershell/Terraform for all of our Infrastructure code
+ Pagerduty to alert.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
+ Ensuring services are integrated, delivered, and operated as required.
+ Having an understanding of the whole system and taking responsibility for teaching this to others.
+ Working with Technical Architects and Lead Engineers to translate architectural designs into operations.
+ Writing infrastructure as code.
+ Operating the production services you build.

+ Comfortable using modern CI/CD tooling and a DevOps approach.
+ Experience with Infrastructure as Code with Terraform or similar tools.

The selection process will be designed specifically for the role. As a result, your assessment will include:

If at sift your application is successful, you will be invited to the first stage of the interview process (hosted by Inspire People), where you will be asked to complete a pre-recorded video interview (this again will be based on the experience points outlined in the essential criteria on this advert).
If you are successful at this stage, you will be invited to a final stage interview (which will include an exercise) and be conducted by DVLA Hiring Managers.
Final stage interviews will take place from Tuesday 10th December 2024.

This interview will be conducted via a video, details of which will be provided, should you be selected for interview.

Government Digital and Data Profession Pay Framework
The role is part of the Government Digital and Data profession and utilises an enhanced CapabilityBased Pay Framework which provides access to a Digital and Data allowance.
The base pay is £40,808 In addition to this the role includes a Digital and Data allowance of up to £16,592.
The value of allowance awarded will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated through the selection process.
