Full Job Description

The Change Delivery Team within Securities Clearing Technology department provides a range of technical services. The team is looking to onboard a senior Oracle Database Engineer to join the team to oversee and drive our Cloud migration projects. The successful candidate will be a senior Oracle SME. You will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation, development, and scalability of enterprise database systems, both on-premises and in the Cloud (Oracle and PostgreSQL). This role will also involve communicating and working with LSEG's central Oracle Database Engineering team to provide strategic technical guidance for mission-critical environments., Database Design & Development: Support the development team with query optimization, software deployment, and contribute to the database design and development lifecycle. Database Management: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, ensuring optimal performance and stability. High-Availability Setup: Implement and manage Oracle RAC and Data Guard in on-premise environments, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery readiness. Cloud RDS Management: Design, implement, and administer AWS RDS solutions for both Oracle and PostgreSQL, ensuring scalability and reliability in the cloud. Database Operations: Handle all database administration activities for Post Trade Securities Clearing and Risk applications, including recovery, performance analysis, replication (RDS), health checks, and system tuning whilst working closely with the central Oracle DB Support Team Performance Optimization: Collaborate with development and operations teams to tune and optimize production queries, ensuring performance standards are met. Technical Support & Upgrades: Provide technical support for database environments and applications, including installation, database creation, upgrades, and patch management. Capacity Planning & Scalability: Conduct capacity planning, ensuring systems can scale efficiently and perform well under load. Security & Patching: Lead efforts in patch management, security vulnerability analysis, and the implementation of database security best practices.

The candidate should be an excellent communicator both verbally and in writing, i.e. knowledge sharing though direct interaction.,

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in Database Administration.
  • 10+ years managing both development and production database environments.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in database design, optimization, and performance tuning.
  • 3+ years of experience working with AWS, AWS Outposts including RDS administration and cloud-based database solutions.
  • Proficiency in managing Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, including RAC, Data Guard, and AWS RDS.
  • In-depth knowledge of application and infrastructure components, including stored procedures, query optimization, and improving code quality.
  • Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix environments, including shell scripting, automation and server infrastructure management.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written, with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, effectively managing multiple priorities.
  • Other requirements:
  • Experience in Financial or an investment banking environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to audiences with differing levels of domain expertise (presentations, reports, justification)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Detail-oriented individual with the ability to rapidly learn new concepts and technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including providing simple solutions to complex situations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to prioritize effectively, handle multiple objectives under tight deadlines, identify/ flag/resolve potential issues early on
