Full Job Description

With millions of weekly users looking to immerse themselves in our iconic brand, we are looking for software engineers with experience building internal developer platforms and tooling to help us deliver a next-gen digital retail experience. Core Responsibilities Our engineers work in interdisciplinary squads each arranged around clear product goals with responsibility for delivery of their own product roadmaps. Our teams are encouraged to work 3 days per week in the office. You will act as a member on a team of 57 other specialists :
- Collaborate with product managers and other application engineers to deliver both new functionality and iterative improvements to the LEGO.com privacy, data and analytic collection services.
- Build efficient and reusable applications and services using TypeScript - React / Node.js / GraphQL / AWS / Terraform
- Participate in code reviews
- Focus on sharing knowledge and mentoring other engineers
- Identify and resolve scalability and reliability issues
- Be the driving force behind the delivery of a feature Play your part in our team succeeding Working closely with product owners, lead engineers and engineering managers, our Application Engineers are a vital part of the LEGO.com engineering team. We have implemented a modern front-end stack based around Next.js, React and GraphQL with a cloud-native AWS back-end, and we use the platform to design, build and operate LEGO.com
- Experience working with microservices - our event-based services layer utilises Node.js and is built mainly on the AWS stack - Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, Containers on Fargate, Kinesis, DynamoDB and more
- Understanding and experience of JavaScript and APIs
- Experience with modern JavaScript-focused frameworks and technologies
- Some knowledge of unit testing, integration testing and end to end testing using frameworks such as Vitest or similar
- Some
- CI/CD and engineering tooling - we use Amazon Web Services, GitHub Actions and Terraform extensively
- Must be attentive to detail, and flexible
- Ability to tackle, research, and work through complex problems Bonus if you also have these but not crucial
- Knowledge of frameworks and libraries such as NextJS and React
- Experience with building data intensive services and tooling
- Knowledge of GraphQL server and client functionality is beneficial
