Full Job Description

The Trainee Young People's Practitioner (the "Trainee") role is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in working in the youth or substance misuse sector. Enthusiasm for supporting young people and making a positive difference in their lives is key. We are looking for someone who is both creative and eager to develop their skills - no prior experience is required as full training will be provided. Over the 12-month period, this role will give the Trainee a broad understanding of the sector, allowing them to discover which areas interest them most for a future career. After successfully passing the three-month probation period, the Trainee will be enrolled on a youth work course, along with other relevant training, and The Matthew Project ("TMP") will provide support during work hours to help the Trainee to understand the theory behind our work with young people. At the end of the fixed term contract, TMP will support the Trainee with job applications and provide guidance for securing roles within the sector. The Trainee will assist in the delivery of TMP's Integrated Substance Misuse Service for children and young people under 19 affected by substance misuse in Norfolk. This role is primarily based at our Oak Street centre in Norwich, with the opportunity to support outreach activities in the community. Applications from those with lived experience are welcomed, however, this role is not suitable for anyone currently accessing TMP's Integrated Substance Misuse Service for children and young people due to the sensitive nature of the work we undertake.
