Full Job Description
We are looking to appoint a Trust Fellow to join the Paediatric Gastroenterology services at Great Ormond Street Hospital. The appointment will be fixed term for 12 months with the possibility of extension by mutual agreement., This is a Trust Fellow in Paediatric Gastroenterology for 12 months at ST2/3+ level, with an opportunity to extend for a longer period, as part of your job appraisal and review. Many of our fellows will work with us for 12-18 months, progressing to senior clinical fellows in gastroenterology (subject to successful interview). The post provides a unique and exciting opportunity for training in Gastroenterology, in one of the largest units in the UK. The post is well supported, and would suit candidates with more clinical experience, but limited exposure to working within the NHS.
The post holder will be one of a team delivering high quality clinical care to patients with gastro-intestinal conditions. The post holder will be providing care within our specialist gastroenterology ward, and as part of our outreach service to children elsewhere within the hospital. They will also provide support to patients from our subspecialty areas (neuro-gastroenterology and motility, mucosal immunology & Intestinal failure and rehabilitation), and have the opportunity to attend clinic and observe endoscopy.
This role also includes out of hours working, providing you with the opportunity to experience multiple specialties within the Specialised Medicine group (Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Metabolic Medicine, Dermatology, Rheumatology and Nephrology).

The successful applicant will be required to commence on the start date of March 2025 and is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks. This post is subject to regular appraisal and a 3-month probationary period. There may be an opportunity to extend this beyond the fixed term period, as part of the applicants' clinical appraisal and in line with departmental requirements.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain or extend your clinical experience in Paediatric Gastroenterology, in the unique and supportive environment of Great Ormond Street Hospital. MRCPCH part I or equivalent is essential for this ST3 post. The post is not recognised for training, but the appointee will be treated equitably to trainees in recognised training posts.
The post-holder will enjoy a working environment of formal training and education and will be required to work closely with the other members of the Gastroenterology team. They will be encouraged to take an active role in the department's on-going program of audit and clinical research.
The recruitment process for all admin and clerical roles at Bands 2-4 will be a two stage recruitment process whereby shortlisted candidates will undertake an online literacy, numeracy, ICT and typing test. Only those candidates who pass the competency test will proceed to a formal interview.
