Trustee for Finance / Treasurer

The Aire Rivers Trust is a charity set up to improve the ecological quality of the River Aire and its tributaries. We are looking for new trustees in particular people with accountancy skills and on average half a day a week to spare.

The role is one of overseeing our financial systems and being active on our Finance and Risk Committee as well our Board. You would provide support and expertise to our Finance Officer as well as our Chief Executive. An interest in ecological issues would be helpful, as would a level of accounting literacy that could assist reporting and strategic planning. You would be wholeheartedly encouraged to get involved with our river bank and in the water works although it is a truth that increasingly, environmental work involves a lot of desk-work.

At the moment we are using Quickbooks and establishing project management systems so that our staff team are fully empowered to manage their project budgets. We have doubled in size to ten staff in three years with increasingly complex workstreams so there have been growing pains but it is an exciting time for the trust and our staff team and trustees are clever, hard working and committed. The skills and knowledge to support our staff would go a long way in our small organisation.
