Community Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist, Band 6
Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
The closing date is 13 April 2025
Job summary
Permanent position, 25.5 hours a week
An exciting opportunity exists for a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care to gain experience working in a community setting (0.68 WTE). The post holder will work predominantly in the community setting with flexibility to work within the whole of the Specialist Palliative Care service as is required.
The post holder will have substantial post registration experience, to include either palliative, cancer or non-cancer long term condition nursing. We will consider all transferable skills, but an ability to demonstrate a full holistic assessment and understanding of the principles of symptom control is key to this position.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for highly motivated nurses with excellent communication skills to provide advice and support to patients, their families and health care professionals.
You will need to demonstrate an understanding of specialist palliative care and the context in which such care is delivered within the hospital and community setting. Evidence of ongoing professional development is essential and experience of teaching is desirable.
Access to own car and driving license is essential to the role.
About us
The specialist palliative care service is predominately led by a team of clinical nurse specialists, with oversight and support from specialist palliative medical consultants and other AHP's.
We have strong working relationships with colleagues in primary care, including district nursing, GP's and our neighbouring hospices.
Our team is supportive, friendly and we aim to ensure each of our staff members have a career plan tailored to their needs. Please do make contact with us for an informal discussion around the role.
