Full Job Description

The Environment Agency is committed to a culture of inclusion. We welcome applications from all members of our community. We support flexible working, so please clearly include your preferred working arrangements on your application.
You will be given all the training and support needed to succeed as well as funded access to further academic/professional qualifications.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, who will contribute to the effective management, regulation and development of navigation activities on and around the Anglian Waterways, covering Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Lincolnshire and parts of West Norfolk.

As a Navigation Enforcement Technical Officer, you will provide a frontline presence undertaking enforcement activities to ensure those using our waterways adhere to our legislation and regulations. You will lead on 'field' based targeted enforcement projects and patrols, support boat registration compliance checks, investigate byelaw offences and prepare case files for use in court, where you may need to give evidence.

You will assist with the continuous development, management, and regulation of the Anglian Waterways. You must be able to build good working relationships with colleagues and professional partners, including emergency services, and other key stakeholders.

You will work both in the field and in the office and will require good IT skills to learn and use, on a daily basis, various databases and digital applications.

Our work can involve challenging conversations with sometimes confrontational individuals, requiring you to adapt your communication style.
